Atlas is the father of the Hesperides, the nymphs of the evening. In their war against the Olympians, the Titans were defeated and Zeus condemned Atlas to hold the heavens. Atlas Telamon, enduring Atlas, became a doublet of Koios, the embodiment of the celestial axis.
